Press Release
Blue Ctrl selected for Nexans’ new cable layer at Ulstein Shipyard
We are happy to announce a contract with Ulstein Verft for their second Cable Layer for Nexans Marine Operations.

This time the X-CONNECT® IAS and PMS automation systems includes also Energy Management System (EMS). This is the second vessel for Ulstein Verft with ST-297 CLV design by Skipsteknisk, and the delivery year is 2026.
Blue Ctrl will provide a complete package consisting of an Alarm System (AMS) and an Integrated Automation System (IAS). The Alarm System monitors all essential systems on board the ship and also controls much of the equipment on board. Additionally, a Power & Energy Management System will be delivered, which manages and optimizes power production on board in coordination with a battery pack. This system will minimize consumption and the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. The X-CONNECT platform is fully integrated and serves as the nerve center on board, making it suitable for data capture and operational optimization for the shipowner. Through BLUE BOX, this data capture is organized and transferred to a cloud service, providing personnel on land with access to crucial data through an online real-time portal. This offers an excellent opportunity to monitor the ship’s condition, track consumption, and plan maintenance.
“We are very pleased to have been chosen as the supplier for Ulstein and Nexans. This will be a significant and important delivery for Blue Ctrl,” says Arne Dybvik, Managing Director of Blue Ctrl. “This order will be one of the largest deliveries we have had, and we look forward to working with Ulstein Verft and Nexans on this project,” adds Sindre Stølan, Sales Director at Blue Ctrl. Based on the shipowner’s experience with X-CONNECT from Nexans Aurora, they, together with the shipyard, have once again chosen Blue Ctrl as the supplier, and this is a vote of confidence, Stølan emphasizes.
Managing Director Lars Lühr Olsen of Ulstein Verft is satisfied with choosing Blue Ctrl as the system supplier for these crucial systems. “Our experience with system deliveries based on Blue Ctrl’s X-CONNECT platform is very positive from previous vessels, both in terms of system reliability and the flexibility that, among other things, allows the shipowner to stream data in real-time—an excellent starting point for our customers to have good observability of essential systems on board in real-time.”
