Nexans Aurora and Nexans Electra
Nexans Electra is a cable-laying vessel built for the transport, laying, protection, repair and jointing of subsea power cables. She is a sister vessel to Nexans Aurora, delivered in 2021, with greater cable capacity and updated arrangements. Entering service in 2026, she supports offshore wind, interconnectors and other subsea electrification projects worldwide.
These vessels run continuous, high-value operations in demanding conditions, often far from shore. The automation has to hold up across a long service life, with clear control of every critical system on board.
Blue Ctrl delivered the automation on both vessels, built on the X-CONNECT® platform: the Integrated Automation System (IAS), Power Management System (PMS), Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) and data capture. One platform running the vessel's critical systems, rather than separate systems that have to be integrated after the fact.
The same platform runs across both sister vessels, five years apart. Proven on Aurora, then built on again for Electra.
